Dust on Roads to be Reduced by Chennai Corporation

The Chennai Corporation is on the Plans to Reduce Dust on roads, There has been frequent air pollution caused by metro rails, debris, garbage and more.

This is in accordance with a direction from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to the civic body and other agencies, such as Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, traffic police, Chennai Metrowater and the transport department, to take steps to control air pollution in the city.

Chennai Air Pollution

The Corporation is likely to focus on infrastructure renewal and technological intervention to tackle the problem of dust on roads.

“A number of motorists suffer from eye irritation and poor visibility because of air pollution. Many roads are dusty and vehicle movement causes dust particles to hover, along most stretches,” said R.B. Saravanan, who rides a motorcycle daily.

According to a recent report of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) on air quality, places such as Anna Nagar, Kilpauk and T. Nagar exceed the permissible limit of respirable suspended particulate matter (RSPM) of less than 10 micron size.

TNPCB’s annual reports also indicate a rise in pollution level on roads. RSPM levels have gone up in the past few years.

In areas such as Kathivakkam, the RSPM has been consistently above 300 microgram/cubic metre.
According to an official of the Corporation’s public health department, Wall Tax Road, Mint, T. Nagar and Chennai Central neighbourhoods have potential for causing high incidence of respiratory problems for motorists because of dust on roads.

Role of Humans on Our Precious Environment

“People always wanted someone to blame, didn't they?”. We should give ourself credit by not blaming others. There has been continuous news updates about global warming and many websites share news about global warming, but we are least interested in reading that since it do not have the essential ingredients what we expect. Msn website today in their lifestyle column have shared the best pictures of global catostrophe. Below are some of the pictures and facts of global warming. Have a view of humans role on our precious environment.

The picture you are seeing was a jungle in Mato Grosso state, one of the Brazilian states suffering from deforestation. Some of the brazillion amazon have been suffering from deforestation.

Dead fish float on the waters of Nageen Lake in Srinagar in this August 2012 photo. Thousands of dead fish were found floating on the lake due to depletion of oxygen and the fluctuation of water temperature, according to local media. Scientists indicate that unusual high temperatures and then a sudden dip, depleted oxygen levels in the lake and also the pollution in the lake could be the reasons.

A male polar bear carries the head of a polar bear cub it killed and cannibalized in an area about 300 km (186 miles) north of the Canadian town of Churchill in this November 2009 photo. Scientists say climate change plays a part on this issue.

Global Warming Spreads New Bacteria

Due to different types of pollutions, the lifetime of human beings have decreased and now due to global warming, an other type of bacteria called cyanobacteria have been spreaded and it also started to do its role( Threatining humans by diseases). This bacteria produces greater amount of toxins and affect nervous system, liver, eyes, mucous membranes and as well as cause dermatitis and allergies.

The journal Water Research reports says that "We suspect that these cytotoxins may be behind some gastrointestinal disorders and other illnesses, but epidemiological studies are required to confirm this,". This type of bacteria loves warm weather and any increase in temperatures in the upcoming years  may cause them to grow larger and produce more toxins and become more and more harmful.

Are We Protecting our Natural Resources?

Are we protecting our natural resources? If we ask this question to ourself, our answer would be no. Yes, we know that our natural resources are getting depleted, but still we take it as granted. We dont show any sort of gratitude towards nature. When you study any research against natural resources, it is hard to digest that we lost many natural resources. The famous Indian water guru Anupam Mishra said on one of his interview that "we don’t use our own resources well. When the British first came to India (in the 1850s), Delhi had almost 800 water sources of its own. Now there are no more than 10, and even those are heavily degraded. Delhi’s groundwater is being depleted very fast."

Are We Protecting our Natural Resources

"Without such water bodies, not only are we not collecting rainwater in our cities, we also suffer from flooding when the rains come. There is no resilience. Not a single modern city will escape this threat. Look at the 2005 Mumbai floods - this will only worsen in the future and there is no sign of anyone solving the problem wisely." We also lost many plants that acts as a life saving medicine due to deforestation of forest. I dont whether this condition is going to improve or going to get still worsen. As like you, me also waiting for something good to happen on protecting our natural resources. This what we can do? Isnt it?

Delhi Hit by Air Pollution

Deteriorating air quality in the national capital can translate into 3,000 additional "premature deaths" annually due to air pollution related diseases, the Centre for Science and Environment has said in a report.

The report, submitted to the Delhi government, estimated that about 55 per cent of Delhi's population is directly affected by air pollution as they live in a radius of 500 metre of "urban roads" where pollution level was found to be maximum.

"Those who live close to roads, are at a serious health risk from vehicular air pollution," the report said adding that people living close to such roads are prone to a variety of physical disorders.

The report said around one lakh deaths take place annually in Delhi and the figure can go up by 3,000 additional premature deaths annually due to air pollution related diseases.

The city government has already set up a committee to suggest measures to improve air quality in the city.

A steep decline in sea ice in Arctic

The ice glaciers are melting in many regions and particularly the record breaking cold that gripped Europe this winter could be tied to a surprising culprit - a steep decline in sea ice in Arctic following a warming of the polar region , scientists have claimed.Using a combination of observational data and computer modelling, researchers were able to connect the autumn changes in Arctic sea ice and the resulting changes in atmospheric conditions - increased moisture levels to colder temperatures and increased snowfall across North America, Europe and Asia.

The scientists have concluded that since 1970 Arctic sea ice cover has declined steeply. Some researchers have warned that if current patterns continue, the Arctic could experience nearly ice-free summers within the next few decades, LiveScience reported.

Bangalore – Getting Hot due to global warming

Hi,
Its going to be one year, that I couldn’t able to post any news regarding due to global warming. This one year, India saw many changes, but no change in reduction of global warming. On one of my post I mentioned that metropolitan cities will face severe global warming and that’s what happened to the garden city of India, Bangalore. Bangalore always enjoys the moderate climate, but due to the rise in global and local pollution levels, it’s getting hotter day by day.

In a gather during the Annual Conference on Environment and Sustainability in Bangalore, Dr J Srininvasan Chairman, Divecha Centre for Climate Change and Prof, Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore said “excessive consumption of fossil fuels like petrol and diesel has resulted in carbon emission of 390 ppm (parts per million) in the last two to three years. If remedial measures are not taken, summer seasons in the coming years are going to be cruel”.

According to him, global warming has had a direct impact on the lives of the people in the developing counties as it has impacted groundwater levels. And, even now if the issue of global warming is not addressed, consequences would be disastrous. India’s contribution to global warming is also less and if the same situation exists, there may be a change to get water scarcity. Kanwer Pal, Secretary, Department of Ecology and Environment, said that “two of the five industrial areas are highly polluted in the State”. So still we have time, we need to wake up soon and some measures should be taken to stop global warming.

Global Warming Affects Food Chain in Artic Ocean

Over the past decade, the annual bloom of phytoplankton in the Arctic Ocean has been arriving earlier each year - a change that could hurt the marine food chain and carbon cycling in the region, according to a new research.
Scientists from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (UC San Diego), Mexico and Portugal have attributed the shift to warming temperatures and melting ice in the Arctic.
Using satellite data from 1997-2010 depicting ocean colour and phytoplankton production, they found that the spring blooms have been arriving up to 50 days earlier in some areas over this 10-year period.
The researchers said the earlier Arctic blooms have roughly occurred in areas where ice concentrations have dwindled, creating gaps where the bloom can briefly flourish.
love-theearth.blogspot.com

During the one to two week spring bloom, which occurs in warm as well as cold regions, a major influx of new organic carbon enters the marine ecosystem through a massive peak in phytoplankton photosynthesis, which converts carbon dioxide into organic matter as part of the global carbon cycle.
Phytoplankton blooms stimulate production of zooplankton, microscopic marine animals, which become a food source for fish.
"The bloom provides a major source of food for zooplankton, fish and bottom-dwelling animals. The advancement of the bloom time may have consequences for the Arctic ecosystem."
Mati Kahru, lead author and a research oceanographer at Scripps, said that it was not clear if fish will adapt to match the change, and whether it would disrupt their critical life-cycle stages such as egg hatching and larvae development.
"The spring bloom provides a major source of food for zooplankton, fish and bottom-dwelling animals. The advancement of the bloom time may have consequences for the Arctic ecosystem," he said.
Such a match or mismatch in timing could explain much of the annual variability of fish stocks in the region.
"The trend towards earlier phytoplankton blooms can expand into other areas of the Arctic Ocean and impact the whole food chain," the researchers concluded.

India-US Force in Global Warming Reduction

India and US have set up a task force in order to reduce global warming and this decision was taken at a joint Indo-US workshop on HydroFluoroCarbons (HFCs) attended by environment minister Jairam Ramesh and US deputy assistant secretary of state for environment Daniel A Reifsnyder. In the meeting they have concluded to establish a team that comprises of Industry representatives, scientists, and government officials to suggest options for HFC phase-down.
love-theearth.blogspot.com
Speaking at the workshop,  Environment minister of India MR. Jairam Ramesh said, "India recognises that while HFCs, a substitute for CFCs and HCFCs, are a 'solution' from an ozone depletion perspective, they are a 'problem' from climate change perspective, since they have high global warming potential."They are going to form a four level approach to tackle this problem. What are those four level approaches? For more information on these news, keep seeing  this blog( save earth).

The reason for heavy climate change

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay in posting news about global warming. Today, i take this opportunity  to explain you about the reason for heavy climate change. I hope now everyone would have facing the severe winter season and the climate is so frigid and most of the countries would not have faced this change in the past years. what is the reason for this change? I have been keep on telling in my news that global warming may bring many impact in climatic conditions and that is the reason behind this.
Love-theeearth

The climate is so rigid and as i said in my previous posts, Asian countries are more vulnerable to global warming. Nearly for 100 years, we keep on burning coal, oil for homes, factories and transportation. The amount of toxic gas content going on increasing, if this condition prevails, not only Asian countries, the entire world will face this. so please awake yourself and love your earth and save earth from global warming.

Why you need to save the earth?

  • Earth is one of the nine planet in which there is plenty of natural resources available.

  • It is an only planet where the human beings can live

  • The earth gives you natural resources like water, trees and food in abundant supply

  • Here, you have build your house with your wealth

  • You and your family are living here

  • To have a long life, you need to save the earth from pollution

These are the reasons why you need to save our earth.Love your earth my fellow mates so that in return you can expect the same love from earth.

Climate change will severly attack India

Within 20 years of time, India is going to face a sever climate change. Nearly two degree Celsius increase in temperature is going to happen and the India will face disaster if the climate changes. There will be a disaster for India's agricultural demand and water supplies. Drought, flood and malaria would occur and as said in my previous post, India's rain cycle will get affected and this can threaten water supplies and agricultural. India is a country where the key source of livelihood for most of the people is agricultural and this could create a great impact over here.

Really, my dear brothers and sisters, India is more vulnerable to global warming and soon we will realize it until we do not do any precautionary measures. love your earth and save our earth from global warming.

Metropolitan cities will face severe global warming

220 scientists from 120 research institutions have worked on a new report on global warming and the report says that "the temperature in India could increase by 3.8°F by 2030, due largely in part to climate change". Especially the metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta will face a serious issue because the experts said that the effect would be more in coastal areas. Even our environment minister MR Jayaram ramesh said that "There is no country in the world that is as vulnerable, on so many dimensions, to climate change as India is."

By 2050, this temperature change with full effects create a drastic change in weather patterns and seasonal rains. Also, the report says that it will result in more rainfall especially in the Himalayas and north east regions.

Agricultural commodities are in demand!

India is an agricultural country and we mostly depend on agricultural commodities, but I am not sure that in future whether we can able to get these products in well ahead. I am not saying simply, really in future we will face a demand in these products. Any one has ever thought why there will be a demand in agricultural products?  Day by day the population is getting increased and automatically the demand for food commodities also got increased.
The major reason for demand in agricultural products is global warming. Yes, it is severely spreading like a bacteria, virus and protozoan and destroying all the living beings and other products of our earth. Day by day the earth is feeling so warmer, we are expecting sudden climatic changes, one day it is raining and on the other day the sun rays are attacking us. Bio diversity has been disturbed, water creatures are starving for food and even they are getting depleted.  The worst condition that will prevail in future along with agricultural demand is water demand, yes my friends, we are not leaving even a small space in the land and building houses and multi complex buildings and consuming more water from the ground through bore pipes.

My friends Asian Counties are more vulnerable to global warming and in that India ranks in the first ten. Think where we are now, we should not blame any political parties for this because even though they are trying to implement new policies to prevent global warming, we are not following that. United we stand and divided we fall so we should get united and should join hands with the government and should help them to prevent global warming. I heard through someone the end of the world is already pre written and the third time the world is going to get floated in water. I don’t believe it when I heard it first, but I am afraid now whether it will happen like that.

The existing condition tells that it may come true one day. Yes, the big glacier mountains are getting melted down and due to it the water content of the earth is going to increase. Already, earth is a place where the water portion is more than the land portion and if this condition prevails, it is damn sure that it will be true one day. Pollution is getting increased day by day and the wastes from the water are getting disposed into agricultural lands and through some water pools. So due to this the land that is suitable for farming have turned into a dry land. All the agricultural lands are getting changed into multi complex buildings.

It is a right time my friends, get awake, let us join and save the earth. Love your earth; in return, the earth will also love you.

First Assesment report by India on climatic change

It's a happy news, India is going to release its first assessment report on global warming impacts. India is going to give a report on four sectors and an environment ministry official said that a report is going to be based on the global warming and the climatic change. Also, the report is going to cover the livelihoods of people in four regions. Agriculture, water, health and forests are the four sectors in which the report is going to be. 220 scientist from 120 research institutions across he country prepared a report on country's green house gas emission data.

By announcing this report,India have become the first country to publish such statistic reports

To
       The people
         World

Sub: request to prevent global warming

Hi,
My name is earth, I am 4.5 billion years old and now I am severely suffering from the endemic disease called global warming. Day by day I am feeling extremely hot and my children (natural resources are getting polluted) and  I think, I am going to die soon. So please save me from this disease and give me a new life. Stop polluting! Stop deforestation! Follow this, reduce, reuse and recycle. You  people can only save me. Save me soon,  waiting for your good responses.
                                                 Yours lovingly
                                                       The earth (your mother)

Impress me in these ways!

Hello, I am earth, if you love your earth, I will save you as like a new baby born in the earth. In this aspect, I follow MR Newton’s third law of motion. For your remembrance, I will tell you what it is.  For every action, there is equal and opposite reaction. Yes, for your every action on me, you face the equal and opposite reaction, which is called as global warming. Still, most of you are not aware about it. If you want to live in a green earth, impress me in these ways.

Buy Eco friendly products

Spend your valuable time in nature, see the clouds, beauty and blossom of the flowers, then you will come to realize me.
I don’t like any artificial and rocking music, I like birds singing, winds clapping, raindrops splashing and more that are not artificial and pleasant. So don’t pollute me with noise pollution.

Please plant as much as trees, it not only saves me, it saves you too.

Eat organic foods

Reduce, re use and recycle

If you impress me in these ways and once you started to love me, you will come to realize me.  If you love your earth, you will be blessed with long life and with good natural resources. Will you do so my children.  Awaiting for your responses and expecting a day where global warming gets decreased soon.

                                                                                                        With love
                                                                                                           Earth (your mother)
